About Seaside Serenity

D id you know that roughly half of our clients here at Seaside Serenity are not only working to overcome their addiction, they’re also working to overcome a co-occurring mental health disorder? It’s true! Roughly half of all Americans who have problems with substance abuse are also dealing with a mental health disorder. There are many reasons that this tends to be the case, but the fact of the matter is, when a client is dealing with both an addiction and a co-occurring mental health issue, it becomes of paramount importance that they receive the benefits afforded by dual diagnosis mental health treatment.

You can trust us

This is of paramount importance, because the journey to recovery can be a long and arduous one, and is unlikely to be complete even when you’ve graduated from our substance abuse treatment center. This is also the reason that we provide all of our clients with a customized aftercare treatment plan. This ensures that even once they’ve left the security of our drug abuse treatment facility, our clients know that Seaside Serenity is by their side every step of the way.

Dual Diagnosis

What is dual diagnosis mental health treatment? It’s a cutting-edge treatment strategy that dictates not only that the addiction be treated, by the co-occurring disorder be treated concurrently. This affords our clients a distinct advantage, and a greater likelihood of being able to overcome the challenges they face. This is because when someone is struggling with a co-occurring disorder, and receives treatment for the addiction, they may receive relief from the symptoms of addiction, but then begin to recognize the symptoms of the co-occurring disorder. Since it may be the symptoms of the mental health disorder that caused the client to self-medicate to begin with, it is necessary to deal with the disorder to get the client the best chance at recovery.

Fortunately, that’s where dual diagnosis mental health treatment comes in. Dual diagnosis allows us to treat both the addiction and the co-occurring disorder at the same time. This means that the treatment for the addiction and the treatment for the co-occurring disorder are completed at the same time, so when clients leave our facility, they don’t have to worry about symptoms of the mental health disorder emerging again and causing them to backslide into relapse. In fact a major portion of our program is dedicated to making sure that recovery continues long after you’ve left the security of our addiction recovery facility
